Large Commercial Greenhouse looking for a responsible individual to fill our Night Grower position. The right candidate will have mechanical background and be able to show stable job history. Must be willing to learn fast, Work from 4:00pm to 6:00am on weekends and 6:00pm to 6am on Week nights in an alternating shift with other team members, be upbeat and trustworthy. It is important the person for the position has the ability to perform physical tasks such as: walk around the facility inside/out of all ranges 2-3 times per shift, While working in the dark, will need to have good hand, eye, foot coordination. Will be using a flashlight in many poorly lit areas. Greenhouse and Warehouses are approximately 29 acres. Must pass a fit test for use with a Respirator. Use of respirator while working in areas sprayed with Pesticides. This position will require the individual to monitor conditions in the greenhouses nightly and make repairs to equipment or perform preventative maintenance on equipment with little to no supervision. You must notify management of any problems with temperature, light, water and the facility. THIS IS NOT A SECURTIY POSITION! Ability to speak/communicate in English preferred.

Duties

• Monitor Green house temperatures
• Verify lighting systems turn on/off correctly, ability to over-ride into manual operation if needed
• Close or cover blackout systems and heat retention curtains- via an electrical switch or manually as needed
• Monitor and facilitate the filling of water tanks
• Monitor the Reverse Osmosis System
• Keep an eye on fresh water wells and geothermal wells and record pressures and GPM readings
• Monitor heating and cooling systems
• Monitor wells and turn on pumps associated with heating via a computer or manually as needed
• Check and record temperatures for our coolers
• Monitor and record temperature readings in all ranges, coolers, trucks, warehouses and update on a nightly spreadsheet that will be sent out via email to various stakeholders
• Call management when readings are deviating from normal or a major failure occurs
• Interact with the Maintenance Manager, Operations Manager and Production Manager as needed
• Assess maintenance problems and provide repairs to them as needed or directed by manager or supervisor on duty
• Ability to use an electronic work order system as an app on a company provided cell phone
• Good understanding and ability to use a computer to submit reports via email or communicate with other team members with email or text
• Ability to lift up to 75-lbs on their own, moving propane bottles around the facility by themselves

Skills

• Proficiency in farm management techniques and practices related to plant growth.
• Strong mechanical knowledge for operating equipment used in gardening and farming tasks.
• Experience with outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
• Capability of performing heavy lifting tasks
• Competence in using hand tools

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38 – 50 per week
